To keep us going with growing through the winter season we have started our first ginger planting(I knew that third unused bedroom would come in handy at some point). The sprouts are up and if we can keep the cats from nibbling on them we should have our first ginger crop in the summer…ish.
Three pots going with Canadian ginger rhizomes bought from a local veggy stand. Trying to stay as local as we can, really didn’t want to start with foreign stock. Really simple, which we appreciate, let it sprout little buds, divide, let fresh ends dry and plant just under the surface of well draining soil. Keep it watered well, inside and off she goes! Very excited about cooking with our own fresh ginger.
