Yup, you guessed it; I make my own Ketchup.

This is really simple:

  • 6 oz can of tomato paste(organic if you can find it)
  • 1/2 cup honey(corn syrup if you don’t have honey, not fond of corn anything)
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder( I use scape powder because I make it)
  • 1/8 tsp celery salt

Add all to a pot and boil, reduce and simmer 20 minutes(until the desired consistency, cooking with honey takes a little longer to reduce), cool and store in the fridge.  Taste for sweetness, you can add a little more sweetener(honey, syrup or sugar) if you like. The flavor develops overnight as well, taste again the next day.

I double the recipe and it fills a quart jar. It may not be the store bought you are used to but it is good and you know where it came from(mostly , kind of).
