Building beehives

The bees do their part so we should do ours. Getting ready for our first split means we need a new hive built. The frames came in and were quickly put together with the brad nailer.

The boxes are built from scratch, basic pine boards. A jig was made to get the finger joint just right.

A couple of test corners worked well, so onto the deep and medium supers.

Pre-drill the hole for the spiral nails. The bees aren’t breaking these apart.

Staining, entrance reducer and the starter strips (as we are going foundation-less with this hive) and we will be done. That is for another day. We’re almost there.
